Drawing - Drawing the right cards when playing online Traditional Rummy is the number one skill that affects the outcome of the game. When you draw a card at the beginning of the game, it is advisable that you pick a card from the stock pile rather then the discard pile so that your opponents will find it difficult to keep track of the cards in your hand. Keeping the cards in your hand a secret as long as possible will prove to be worthwhile.  Since the cards on top of the discard pile are the cards that your online Rummy opponents do not need, when drawing a card from the stock pile, you might be preventing them from receiving cards that help them form melds.

Discard - Discarding the right cards should not be taken lightly. When discarding cards, your first priority is to rid your hand of the cards that are of no use to you. Moreover, you should throw away cards that are of no use to your online Rummy opponent by simply noting which cards your opponents discard.

Pay Attention - One of the key strategies in online Traditional Rummy is constant vigilance. Be aware of the cards that your online Traditional Rummy opponents discard and pickup. This gives you the benefit of knowing which cards your opponent is holding.

Melding - Try to draw and discard cards in a manner that will provide you with a lot of opportunities to complete pairs into melds. For example: the unmelded cards in your hand are: Seven of Spades , Seven of Clubs , Eight of Clubs , Four of Hearts . Discarding the Four of Hearts will leave you with more opportunities to meld the rest of cards.

Going Rummy - You need to pay attention to your opponents' moves, the cards they are drawing and discarding. Make your decision to Go Rummy based on the information you can get during the first couple of turns.

Going down -
If all players have already laid down melds at the "Meld Area", waiting to Go Rummy is too risky - go down as soon as you can.
