Basic Rules
Rummy card games are played by 2-4 players and each player is dealt a set number of cards.
The objective of the game is to be the first player to dispose of all the cards in your hand, by forming melds and laying them down on the table.
The game play consists of the following elements:
A turn begins by a player drawing a card from either the stock or discards pile and they must end the turn by discarding a card onto the discard pile. This structure enables cards to circulate around the table allowing players to complete their melds
There are two types of melds:
| A set consists of 3 or more cards of the same rank: |
|---|
|
| A run consists of 3 or more consecutive cards of the same suit: |
|---|
|
Although there are a wide variety of card games under the game of Rummy, all of the Rummy card games contain a scoring chart. The winner in a single ring game is the first player to dispose of all his cards.
The winner of a tournament is the first player to accumulate the lowest amount of points, or by being the last player to stay in the game without being eliminated by exceeding the elimination target score.
